In Speyer, the city of Emperors, the magical Christmas atmosphere carries on for longer than in the other Romantic Cities. The Christmas and New Year Market externer Linkon Geschirrplätzel will present concerts and theatre performances for visitors through to the New Year, with the impressive fireworks displays of the spectacle "Altpörtel in Flames": a shower of stars from the balustrade of the historical Gate Tower creating a romantic atmosphere with the right music to match. Visitors can also stroll around the craft market held in the courtyard of the City Hall and in the Flachsgasse cultural courtyard, where eleven exhibitors will be presenting unusual handicrafts: unique felt work, designer jewellery, pottery and woodturning objects. Don’t miss the Christmas markets in Speyer’s twin towns, each with their own food specialities for visitors to enjoy.
